  Halloween

  so, do any of you ex-jw's partake in any halloween celebrations?

  do you give candy to the trick-or-treaters?

  do you dress up and go to parties?.

  having a Halloween party for my kids next weekend, went to the Detroit Zoo Boo Friday night, going trick or treating with friends.

  Are there any songs that remind you of being a jw ?

  this afternoon the song music box dancer came on the radio and i was instantly transported back to 1978 when my best jw friend got married.. this was "their" song ,, they are now divorced and one of them left the religion and is remarried.. another song that makes my skin crawl from a jw standpoint is mambo # 5.. there was an elder from my old hall, j. renfroe who always was telling the young people what music was acceptable for them to listen to.. and this guy was just so opinionated regarding everything.. so one time at a wedding this song comes on and he starts dancing almost uncontrollably.

  it was agony to watch, and i ( and many others felt embarrassed for him because of how he was dancing and how his self rightous opinions seemed to be thrown to the wind this evening.. any other examples of music that became tainted from a jw experience ?.

  I got to pp 3 or so of the article re capitalizing Governing Body and a thought came to mind....

  A JW will go on and on about how the word Trinity is NOT found in the Bible.

  Well, yah, neither is Governing Body, and yet following them around like puppy dogs is the only way a person gets saved.

  If You Leave The Organization Where Else Must You Go?

  it seems the watchtower leaders believe that if you were to think about leaving the organization (and listen to "apostates") that you must have a place to go in return.

  they feel you must have something, if you were to not accept the organization.

  you need hope and belief in something.

  To Brine or Not To Brine

  I didn't realize that this could get so many replies. I love the replies. Lots of information available.

  I am going to brine it. Which means I need to get thine booty to the grocery store tomorrow for bird buying, not to mention everything else.

  So the next step is to give a good look at these brining recipes and go from there.

  new shoes so I can stop wearing slippers (that's just because I am so damn picky with shoes)(I REALLY want Doc Martens :)

  and well just for fun....

  To be able to freaking see Aerosmith in concert before Steven Tyler kicks it, and well, it ain't looking good folks.

  New sex offender in my hall

  just found out that there is a sex offender in my hall.

  the "brother" that i was with said " the brothers will make sure that he is not put with any kids in service".

  So he's a sex offender. Are we to understand that he has been taken into custody, prosecuted, and is now free? OR does this mean that the Society has a record on him?

  I think that it can be very true. I think part of the catch is that Ms Mead doesn't say: And you will see those changes in your lifetime.
  You may have to work for something that you believe in, knowing that you will never see the result. You seek to make the change if only because you believe so strongly in the change for everyone, not just yourself.
